## Full Description
EMRS — Eklavya Model Residential Schools — are central government residential schools for tribal students across India, run under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs through the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS). The Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) post in EMRS is a non-teaching government position offering stable employment, central government pay scales, and the satisfaction of contributing to tribal education infrastructure. The 2025-26 recruitment cycle notified 228 vacancies, with Tier-I held on 21 December 2025 and Tier-II scheduled for 24 March 2026. This solved papers and practice book from Youth Competition Times is built to help candidates prepare for both stages of this specific exam.

The EMRS JSA selection has three tiers. Tier-I (Preliminary, OMR-based, 120 minutes, 0.33 negative marking) is qualifying in nature only — its marks do not count toward the final merit list. It is used to shortlist candidates in a 1:10 ratio against the notified vacancies for Tier-II. Tier-II (Subject Knowledge Examination, 0.33 negative marking) is what actually determines the merit list — only Tier-II marks count for final selection. Tier-III is a Typing Test (50 marks, minimum qualifying mark 20), which must be cleared by candidates shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio after Tier-II, but typing marks are not added to the merit list.

The Tier-I syllabus covers five areas. Reasoning Ability: Puzzles and Seating Arrangement, Data Sufficiency, Statement-Based Questions, Inequality, Blood Relations, Sequences and Series, Direction Test, Assertion and Reason, and Venn Diagrams. Quantitative Aptitude: Ratio and Proportions, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Decimal and Fractions, Time and Distance, HCF and LCM, Percentages, Simplification, Averages, and Simple and Compound Interest. General Awareness: Current Events of National and International Importance with special emphasis on the field of education, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, science and technology, and sports. Language Competency (English and Hindi): Comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, sentence correction, and usage. Basic Knowledge of Computer Operations: Fundamentals of computers, internet, and basic applications.

The Tier-II Subject Knowledge syllabus goes deeper on Computer Knowledge specifically: Fundamentals of Computer Systems, Basics of Operating System, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Keyboard Shortcuts and their uses, Important Computer Terms and Abbreviations, Computer Networks, Cyber Security, and Internet. Tier-II also tests General Awareness with emphasis on education-related topics, language competency in both English and Hindi, and government office terminology — relevant to the actual secretarial duties the role involves.

This is a niche exam — not as widely covered by publishers as SSC or banking exams — which makes a dedicated solved papers book considerably more valuable. Practicing from actual EMRS JSA previous year papers tells you exactly how questions are framed in this exam rather than relying on generic GK or reasoning books calibrated to a different exam's standards.

Who is this for? Candidates who have applied or plan to apply for the EMRS JSA post under NESTS. Class 12 pass or graduate-level candidates in the eligible age group. Candidates simultaneously preparing for SSC MTS, SSC CHSL, or similar central government non-technical posts — the reasoning, aptitude, and general awareness syllabus overlaps significantly. The difficulty is at the intermediate level — harder than state-level Group D exams, but not at the depth of SSC CGL or banking PO.

The book is in Hindi Medium at 288 pages — a focused, practical resource for a focused exam. Youth Competition Times, publishing from Prayagraj, covers central government non-teaching recruitment exams alongside their state-level exam series. Download the PDF here for clean mobile reading and start with the solved papers to understand how EMRS JSA questions are actually framed before moving to the practice sets.
